During the late-19th century, the property was recognized as one
of the finest working plantations in West Central Mississippi, with
a sawmill and a gristmill.
Listed on the national Register of Historic Places
and featured on HGTV's "If These Walls Could Talk", the Dupree House
developed from a three-room structure built in the 1850's to the
picturesque, transitional Greek Revival/italianate plantation home
of the Dr. H.T.T. Dupree. The Dupree has also been recognized by
The Mississippi Heritage Trust as a recipient of the Award of Merit
in the field of Historic Preservation. Mamie's Cottage, the in-town
home of Dr. Dupree's adopted daughter, Mamie, was moved to the property
in 1977 following her death. Today, the cottage houses comfy bed
& breakfast suites. A great place to enjoy beautiful ambiance steeped
in history, Dupree House welcomes groups for tours and catered meals.
The home is also available for family reunions, weddings, luncheons
and company parties. A special motorcoach entrance makes the home
easily accessible.
