The Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern
Jewish Life was formed as a response to an outcry from small-town
Southern Jews in need of a repository for artifacts, sacred objects,
historical documents, photographs, and oral histories.
The Institute also provides a circuit rabbi and
educator, cemetery and synagogue preservation, expanded museum activities,
exhibitions, oral history research, a genealogy center, and cultural
programming like the annual Southern States Jewish Film Festival.
