The Mississippi Arts Commission is the official statewide grantsmaking and service agency for the arts. Additionally, the agency maintains a roster of artists and arts education professionals available for performances, workshops, residencies, and other community programs.

The Mississippi Arts Commission believes that--through the arts--diverse communities of all sizes can better identify shared values, create vibrant public spaces, enhance the effectiveness of schools, and attract visitors. After all, fostering excellence in the arts provides the inspiration to generate a higher quality of life for citizens.

The Greater Jackson Arts Council is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that works in public/private partnership with the City of Jackson and the Jackson Convention & Visitors Bureau. Our agency also receives public funding from the Mississippi Arts Commission, Hinds County Board of Supervisors, U.S. Department of Education, and the National Endowment for the Arts. Additionally, our programs and services are supported by private foundations, corporate donors, our volunteer board of directors, and individuals committed to cultural development in the city.
