As Mississippi's largest art museum, the Mississippi Museum of Art is home to some extraordinary works of art. In 1911 the Mississippi Art
Association was founded to promote the original work of Mississippi artists, sculptors, writers, craftsmen, and other artistic fields. It's not simply the best in local and regional art that they have on display. Each year some of the most diverse exhibitions in the nation come to Jackson, as well as numerous rotating exhibits from the museum’s permanent collection of more than 3,100 works of art spanning thousands of years of art history.

In addition to the continuing exhibits, the museum offers year round educational classes, workshops and programs for children, adults and teachers. The biennial Mississippi Invitational Exhibition, which began in 1997, invites a guest curator to bring an objective eye and fresh perspective on the state’s most promising artists. And not to be missed is the museum’s monthly “Unburied Treasures” and “Jazz, Art and Friends” evening series of jazz, cocktails, literature and visual arts.

It’s the perfect place to mingle with area artists and art patrons, while you take it the latest exhibit. See for yourself today. If it's great art you're looking for, you are sure to find it here.
