The Madison Square Center for the Arts is located
in the heart of downtown Madison. The facility was built in 1890
as the former Madison-Ridgeland High School and is designated as
an historic site on the National Register of Historic Places. The
Madison Square Center for the Arts houses 16 class rooms, a gymnatorium
with a proscenium stage, kitchen facilities, art and music studio
space and the cultural arts administrative offices of the city of
Madison.
The Madison Square Center for the Arts exists
to provide opportunities for arts education, participation and stimulation
to the residents of Madison and the surrounding communities. The
center offers classes for multiple age groups in the areas of dance,
vocal and instrumental music, visual and performing arts, health,
wellness and personal growth, and martial arts.

The Greater Jackson Arts Council
is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that works in public/private
partnership with the City of Jackson and the Jackson Convention
& Visitors Bureau. Our agency also receives public funding from
the Mississippi Arts Commission, Hinds County Board of Supervisors,
U.S. Department of Education, and the National Endowment for the
Arts. Additionally, our programs and services are supported by private
foundations, corporate donors, our volunteer board of directors,
and individuals committed to cultural development in the city.
