Members of the Mississippi Chorus and its leaders take delight
in preparing and presenting the finest in choral art both singly
and in partnership with other organizations.
In 1989, Martin Bittick advertised for singers
to augment the chancel choir of Crossgates United Methodist Church
for a presentation of HandelÕs "Messiah." The overwhelming
response resulted in the formation the Mississippi Chorus, a group
that has performed such striking works as BachÕs "Magnificat,"
Mendelssohn's "Elijah," and compositions not often heard
locally like Beethoven's "Mount of Olives" and Andrew
Lloyd Webber's "Requiem."
Each year, the Mississippi Chorus performs with
the Mississippi Symphony in concert performances. A "Lighten
Up" series features pop, rock and Broadway tunes.
