One of a Kind Showplace... The Only Petrified Forest in the Eastern United States

A Registered National Landmark, Mississippi boasts the only Petrified Forest in the Eastern United States. Once massive trees washed away by a mighty river, broken up, and then unearthed by erosion, these logs, from over 36 million years ago, are preserved for all to see. Because of the length of time, these trees are now rock-like and are "placed" where nature left them. A gift shop is located on the premises.
