One of the world's most prestigious dance events, the USA International Ballet Competition (IBC), is an exciting two-week Olympic style competition where dancers from all over the world converge on Jackson, Mississippi to compete for gold, silver, and bronze medals, study with master teachers, seek company contracts, and participate in some of the worldÕs best dance performances.

Founded in 1978 by Thalia Mara, the first USA IBC joined the ranks of Varna, Moscow, and Tokyo as an officially sanctioned competition by the International Dance Committee of UNESCOÕs International Theater Institute. In 1982, the United States Congress passed a joint resolution designating Jackson as the official home of the USA International Ballet Competition, where it is held every four years.
